Stacey Cotter - Head Trainer

Stacey Cotter

Founder/Head Trainer

Hey guys! My name is Stacey, head trainer and owner of Pure Energy Dog Training and Rehabilitation. I was first introduced to the world of dog training several years ago when I was working as an animal control officer at a local animal shelter. It was there that I met my husband, Travis, and we began our life long journey of training dogs and helping families along the way. Our hearts would break every time we would see another dog put down due to behavioral issues that with training and guidance could be completely turned around, so we decided to do something about it. After completing our training certification and training dogs for several years, we made a big decision to leave the shelter world and Pure Energy Dog Training was created.

We are committed to creating balanced, well behaved dogs and as a result we see happy, completely satisfied owners. It's wonderful to be able to empower people through the rehabilitation process of their dogs. We are truly passionate about what we do. We started Pure Energy Dog Training with one goal in mind: Teaching the human to lead and the dog to follow.

Travis and I were both trained and mentored by Sean O'Shea of The Good Dog Training and Rehabilitation and Jeff Gellman of Solid K9 Training, among other top dog trainers. In 2013, Sean was hired by Cesar Millan to train students alongside Cesar at his seminar "Training Cesar's Way". And you may know Jeff Gellman from his highly rated dog training radio show "What Would Jeff Do?"

We wouldn't be where we are today without such generous mentors like these guys. Being able to help people build a balanced, healthy relationship with their dog is what motivates us to do what we do every day. We always say, we have the best jobs in the world!

Travis Cotter

Founder/Trainer

Hi everyone! My name is Travis. I am one of the owners of Pure Energy Dog Training and Rehabilitation. Dog training and dog psychology have been a long time interest and passion of mine.

I am a man of few words but the way a dog can naturally have a conversation with other dogs and humans through their energy blows my mind. For me, that is a conversation that is worth having. It is an unbelievable opportunity to watch dog owners have the epiphany of communication with their animals for the first time. The power of what a dog can teach us about ourselves and life is a gift.

I was intrigued and mentored by local dog trainers in NJ and trained and mentored by Jeff Gellman, who owns and operates "Solid K9 Training" in RI and Sean O'Shea, who owns and operates "The Good Dog Training and Rehabilitation" in CA. I have also followed the principles of Cesar Millan from all the way back to his dog walking days in LA.

I have been volunteering with local shelters and rescues in Ocean/Monmouth counties for the past 10 years. The knowledge our mentors and the dogs we have worked with in the past have given Stacey and I the opportunity to pass on our knowledge to others who are in need. We are extremely passionate about what we do, which will surely be shown if we have the opportunity to work with you.

Our simple approach to foundational methods of dog training will keep it easy and fun for dog owners to succeed with there dogs, no matter what issues you may be having. I hope to meet you and your dogs soon!

Rachel Feery

Trainer/Kennel Assistant

Hey! I'm Rachel. I joined the team in the summer of 2018. I started out in the pet services world as a dog walker.

I immediately fell in love with working with dogs and being outdoors. I had a strong desire to help animals. Stacey took a real chance hiring me and taking me under her wing because I was only comfortable handling small to medium-sized dogs. Fast forward to today and the biggest dog I have trained is a 190 lb Great Dane!

I have a passion for helping these dogs and I believe in the work that we do here. Every morning I wake up excited to go to work because like I often say "the doggies need me!"

Throughout my training process I have been left stunned many times by the transformations that take place during our board and train program dogs.

Along with training I also work with the boards to fulfill their needs during their visits, continue their training, and just making sure everyone is having a fun time! Since working here I have developed a goal of working/handling every dog breed.…I can't wait to add your pup to the list!

Korine Falk

Trainer/Kennel Assistant

My name is Korine. I have been involved in working with animals since I was a child learning and competing in 4H shows with small animals. Since then I have worked as a ward nurse and surgical veterinary technician, volunteered at local animal shelters, managed a pet sitting company, and worked as a pet nutritional consultant for several dog and cat food companies. I am also certified in NJ for Animal control and Animal cruelty investigation.

Working with dogs has always been a passion of mine. Sometimes it’s just surreal to step back and think that we have formed this connection with a completely different species, have found ways to communicate with them, and then we share our homes with them.

Communication is always the most important factor in all of this. For dogs to understand us and us to understand our dogs is the key to make living together harmonious. As a dog trainer, I can help bridge the gap of communication between a human and their dog. That is rewarding to me and something I very much enjoy doing.

In my spare time I train and show a dog breed called Alaskan Klee Kai in conformation and sporting competitions. (Think Westminster!). I volunteer for our breed’s rescue, The Alaskan Klee Kai national rescue, as their regional coordinator for NJ, PA, and NY. I formerly served as secretary for the breed’s club, Alaskan Klee Kai Association of America. I also thoroughly enjoy hiking and kayaking, both of which our dogs join in on the fun!

Amy O’Hara

Team Assistant

Hi, if you’re reading this, you’ll probably be receiving a call from me soon! As the team’s assistant, I handle all the website inquiries and scheduling. I haven’t been on the team long but I’ve known Stacey since she trained my dog, Petey, over a year ago so I know the program inside and out because it is part of my daily routine at home.

I can relate to you as a dog parent because I experienced the same thoughts and emotions as you when I was deciding to put my dog through the Board & Train Program. It may be a difficult decision to send the most-loved member of your family away for 2+ weeks, but it is really worth it in the end when your dog returns home more relaxed, happier, and in a healthier state of mind.

So what are you waiting for? Submit your info on our Contact page and I’ll give you a call. I look forward to chatting with you about your pup!

From the minute Travis and Stacey met my dog, I could tell they were extremely passionate about what they do. It is important to them that the owner’s and dog’s relationship is set up for success. They were both willing to help me with any questions and concerns I had. If a potential client was on the fence about whether or not to work with them I would say absolutely do it!! Pure Energy cares about your relationship with your dog. It is important to them that you thrive as a pet owner. They want to help you create a happy and healthy relationship. I’ve already reached out to Stacey with questions and she responded with a wealth of information to help me! Stacey and Travis are great and you really are getting excellent training from passionate trainers.
